Welcome to SquareKufi.org, the web site for the Square Kufi Collective,
a group of lettering artists and scholars dedicated to the research, preservation,
innovation, and promotion of Square Kufi calligraphy.
Square Kufi (or Kufic) is a style of Arabic calligraphy developed about
800 years ago.
After a period of decline, it is popular again now, hence the need for a
place where those interested can communicate, cooperate, and provide educational
material for all to enjoy.

Square Kufic in modern Art, I have completed my PhD dissertation with the title above at the University of Washington in the Summer of 2010. In the coming months I hope to post here some parts of this work for the benefit of Square Kufic calligraphy lovers.
