In a previous issue of this magazine, I briefly addressed the topic of the emergence of the Square Kufic script and mentioned that the characteristics of Square Kufic appeared as a result of implementing this script with ceramic panels and not with building tiles or bricks. In this article, I would like to expand my presentation of the emergence of Square Kufic and to correct my previous opinion by reviewing early examples that were implemented with bricks in a period preceding the examples included in the above-mentioned article.
